We are currently seeking talented Attorney - Complex Litigation for our San Antonio, TX facility.
Competitive candidates will have experience in the following areas:
Independently providing legal counsel to manage and proactively identify practical measures to reduce litigation risk. Leading complex assignments to deliver effective solutions. Providing clear and concise written materials for senior level clients. Collaborating with legal colleagues on novel or complex legal issues. Preparing and presenting witnesses in civil litigation depositions, hearings, and trials. Managing complex institutional litigation discovery responses and corporate representative testimony. Relationship management, customer service, and collaboration skills. Litigation support vendor management or oversight.
JD from an accredited law school. 4+ years’ experience practicing law within the areas of class action litigation, 1st party insurance litigation (“bad faith” litigation), or other complex commercial litigation. Admitted to practice law in one state or territory of the USA. Active member of good standing of the bar in at least one state or territory.
Ideal candidates will have significant experience handling a complex litigation docket to include class actions and first-chair litigation experience or in-house management experience involving the products or business operations of personal lines insurance companies (auto, property, life), banks, or investment companies. Experience with “bad faith” litigation involving personal lines insurance claims, uninsured and underinsured motorist claims, and property damage claims. Experience with commercial litigation involving banking, securities, life insurance products, or commercial contractual disputes. Well-developed understanding of insurance claims handling practices and experience analyzing claim files for personal lines insurance products. Excellent proficiency with rules of civil procedure and evidence, e-discovery processes, and institutional document production and retention issues. Demonstrated ability to make decisions on complex litigation issues and communicating with senior level clients.
