The BD and IP Coordinator Job duties include:
Serve as intellectual property manager for business development team: Manage and update the intellectual property database under the supervision of the Executive Director, Business Development, with guidance from Legal Counsel. Work with outside law firms to maintain patent portfolios. Work with internal teams to assure that all IP is appropriately maintained, updated and supported. Work with BD team on licensing projects.
Coordinate with Legal Team and contracts management to track and maintain license agreements, invoice for payments due on licenses, support finance on generating invoices for IP-associated agreements (usually licenses), strategic alliances, commercial service agreements, etc.
Work with Business Analyst on project management for the business development team. Maintain client and contact databases. Assist with outreach and marketing communications.
Act as secondary point of contact for clients and existing industries during the absence of another member of the business development team. This includes gathering relevant project/client information and relaying this information to the appropriate staff contact in an expedient manner. In some cases, Coordinator will need to compile pertinent data and distribute to the client directly.
Support Marketing and Public Relations where needed.
Assist the BD Team in the preparation of project information and presentations. This includes coordinating with R&D on research-specific tasks to determine the best course of action for the compilation of this information.
Other duties may include support for legal department and contract review.
Self-motivated, seeks to participate in support of new projects and company retention.
Technically savvy (ability to use online resources for research, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ability to learn IP Management, Project Management, Competitive Database software and other tools as required)
Detail oriented, especially as relates to Life Sciences and Biotechnology - focused Intellectual Property
Strives to learn new ways to perform tasks that improve the efficiency or outcome.
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences with coursework in either business administration, marketing / public relations / Law (pre-law) (Advanced degrees in life sciences and/or law preferred but not required)
Relevant work experience or education related to legal aspects of business, contracts, intellectual property, etc.
Excellent organizational skills & ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously. • Ability to work independently. • Excellent written and oral communication skills
