Exercises discretion and independent judgment while working under the general direction of the Director of Attorney Recruitment and the Director of Attorney Development, while supporting the local Office Managing Partner(s) and Office Administrator and according to established Firm policies and procedures. The Attorney Recruiting Manager is responsible for all aspects of the attorney recruiting process for the Firm’s Los Angeles Office. Essential duties are performed personally or through delegation/supervision of subordinates. Maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and Firm matters.

LAW SCHOOL RECRUITMENT:
Manage on-campus hiring process, including coordinating interview dates and maintaining effective relationships with on-campus law school personnel.
Manage law school outreach year round, including maintaining a proactive relationship with law schools scheduling visits during non-peak recruiting times in order to market the Firm (e.g. by volunteering to give presentations and participating in school-sponsored events). Support law student diversity hiring and initiatives.
Coordinate the Fall-recruiting process, including active participation on the Recruiting Committee, managing all aspects of the interview process (determine interviewers, schedule interviews, facilitate follow-up and documentation of offers and declines).
Work with LA Hiring Partner to establish and meet recruiting targets and initiatives.
Manage post offer follow up activity.
SUMMER ASSOCIATE RECRUITMENT:
Plan, organize, and manage the Summer Associate Program including coordination of the Summer Program Calendar (program dates, training events, social events). Administer the Summer Associate Program on a day-to-day basis and assist the Hiring Partner and Assigning Attorneys with issues throughout the Summer.
Serve as the key contact and point of information for all Southern California summer associates and attorneys involved in the Summer Program.
Work with department heads and office managing partner to identify and analyze lateral hiring needs.
Develop job postings, screen candidate resumes, and work with firm attorneys to identify candidates to be interviewed; oversee the timeline preparation and distribution of candidate and search firm correspondence. Collect evaluation feedback, prepare offer letters and maintain hiring reports. Utilize recruiting technology to source candidates and create a candidate pipeline.
Support lateral attorney diversity hiring initiatives.
Develop and maintain relationships with legal search firms.
Oversee the candidate conflicts clearing process, reference and background checks and bar verification process.
Manage orientation for income associates (and other non-partners) in the Southern California offices.
Oversee integration initiatives including social events and regular check-ins with associate hires.
Assist, as necessary, the Managing Partner, Office Administrator, and the Hiring Partners for the Firm’s Lateral Hiring process.
ATTORNEY TRAINING AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT:
Oversee all aspects of the Los Angeles office’s MCLE initiatives, including coordinating accreditation of in-house programs and maintaining attorneys’ MCLE hours.
Assist with the Firm’s national attorney development programming.
Oversee implementation of attorney development initiatives within the Los Angeles offices, including training, performance management, career development and mentoring programs.
Act as a resource for Summer Associates, New Hires, and Associates in the Los Angeles office.
Participate in strategic planning with respect to all aspects of recruiting, including examination of how the Los Angeles office finds, recruits, hires, and retains attorneys. Make recommendations on how to improve the recruiting process.
Maintain current knowledge of recruiting trends and innovations in the market and use all available resources including NALP Conferences, LAALRA participation, emerging technology, and solid relationship-building with other law firms, law schools, recruiters, and Firm attorneys.
Gather materials and work with Marketing to organize recruiting and Firm promotional literature/packages, biographical profiles, orientation manuals, training materials, etc.
Assist in maintaining a database for recruiting records and preparing requisite statistical and status reports. Provide relevant information to the Managing Partner and Office Administrator on a regular basis.
Coordinate activities/events, make reservations, and prepare itineraries/schedules, as indicated.
May directly supervise and manage employees and be responsible for their overall direction, coordination, and evaluation. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Firm’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; making recommendations for hiring, promotion, compensation, and termination.
Experience coordinating and managing attorney recruiting and development activities in a large law firm environment preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer proficient with knowledge and understanding of various database systems and Microsoft Office Suite programs. Ability to learn, utilize, and implement specialized recruiting-related technological databases in order to streamline the recruiting process.
Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with courtesy and diplomacy, efficiently follow written and verbal instructions, provide information, and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of attorneys, candidates, clients, staff, and outside contacts.
Ability to understand and support Firm goals, services, culture, and strategy in order to present self and represent the Firm in a positive, professional manner.
Outstanding organizational, planning, and project management skills including record keeping, data collection, and system information. Ability to compile and analyze data and furnish concise, detailed information in report format, written correspondence, e?mail, or verbally.
Exhibit high degree of initiative, critical-thinking skills, and the ability to exercise independent judgment and make decisions in order to assure the professional integrity of the attorney recruiting and summer associate programs.
Ability to collaborate with high energy, creativity, and vision in order to manage as a decision-maker and contributor on all levels.
Excellent analytical and technical skills requiring an aptitude for detail, precision, and logic with knowledge of all aspects of the attorney recruiting process in order to perform the essential duties of the position.
Proactive with demonstrated troubleshooting, problem resolution, and follow-through skills in order to manage multiple and diverse projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, detail-oriented work environment.
Supervisory/managerial skills necessary in order to interact and communicate with subordinates, provide instruction/direction/training, determine work priorities, and coordinate the activities of a work team.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations and apply mathematical concepts when computing, reconciling balances, verifying numerical data, and preparing various recruiting reports and statistics.
Ability to occasionally retrieve and distribute files, written documentation, or office supplies weighing up to 10 pounds.
Ability to work overtime during peak periods of the recruiting process.
When required, ability and availability to travel in connection with on-campus recruiting and law school outreach.
