And we do it all with every action focused on our shared values of Integrity, Compassion, Relationships, Innovation & Performance.Positions in this function are responsible for investigating, recovering and resolving all types of claims as well as recovery and resolution for health plans, commercial customers and government entities. May include initiating telephone calls to members, providers and other insurance companies to gather coordination of benefits data. Investigate and pursue recoveries and payables on subrogation claims and file management. Process recovery on claims. Ensure adherence to state and federal compliance policies, reimbursement policies and contract compliance. May conduct contestable investigations to review medical history. May monitor large claims including transplant cases.Primary Responsibilities:Access and analyze questionnaire responses to identify and build cases for subrogation reviewReview Health Plan Policies for exclusionsRefer cases to analysts for further investigation and negotiationSupport inbound calls from members, providers, attorney offices, etc.Additional project work as assignedMeet or exceed team and individual metrics Triage pending claims (determine if related to accident or new incident)Review returned injury questionnaires (data enter information and determine if subrogation potential)Create manual filesReview ISO reports and update information in subrogation files
Required Qualifications:High School Diploma / GEDProficiency with computer and Windows PC applications (this includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications)Must be available Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM with the flexibility to adjust daily schedule, and work overtime and / or weekends, as neededPreferred Qualifications:1+ years of experience in any of these areas: Health Insurance, Insurance Billing, Property & Casualty, Auto Insurance, Workers Compensation, Law Firm, or Subrogation1+ years of experience in Claims Recovery and ResolutionKnowledge of Medical TerminologyPrevious Health Insurance backgroundPrevious Coding and / or Claims experienceExperience with Microsoft Word and Excel (Word - Create Correspondence and work within templates; Excel - Data Entry, Sort / filter, work within tables)Soft Skills:Ability to navigate a computer while on the phoneCareers with Optum.
