Reporting to the Vice President for Development, provide leadership in the strategic planning, cultivation, implementation, solicitation, and management of the University's planned giving program. The Director will collaborate and strategize to achieve annual metrics and financial goals.
Typically a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. JD preferred Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible planned giving experience with a non-profit organization or comparable experience. Experience in higher education preferred.
Thorough knowledge of tax laws and their application; the ways and means of effecting planned gifts, and their tax consequences; marketing techniques, fundraising principles and the needs of LMU.
Ability to effectively communicate with attorneys, trust officers, and financial advisors in seeking assistance to obtain planned gifts and prospect leads; work with volunteers and prospects in the cultivation of an interest in such gifts to LMU. Effective written and verbal communication skills, analytical aptitude, and interpersonal skills. Skill in executing marketing plans.
Experience in supervisory role. Recommend selection, pay changes, transfer, promotion, disciplinary action, and discharge.
Demonstrated computer competency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and preferably have knowledge of Advance or other comparable fundraising systems
