The Women’s Initiatives Manager (“Manager”) will be at the forefront of recruiting, retaining and advancing the careers of women attorneys practicing at Ropes & Gray. The Manager is an integral part of the firm’s Attorney Development & Diversity team and will help support the firm’s commitment to building and retaining a diverse workforce. The Manager will primarily support the Women’s Forum Steering Committee, which focuses on the professional development, retention and promotion of women lawyers at all stages of their careers, as well as other attorney development and diversity initiatives that are critically linked to the firm’s strategic goals. This is a highly collaborative and matrixed role working closely with firm leadership, Attorney Development & Diversity, Human Resources, Finance, Marketing & Communications, Events and Practice Development. The role requires a highly resourceful individual and strategic thinker with strong emotional intelligence, discretion, and strong analytical, communication and project management skills.

Partner with the Attorney Development & Diversity Manager to oversee all aspects of the Women’s Forum; develop and guide women’s initiatives and implement certain strategic initiatives as set by the Women’s Forum Committee and firm leadership.
Foster engagement among attorneys and collaborate with other firm leaders to help formulate strategic vision around engagement.
Serve as a gender diversity subject matter expert; keep up with trends and innovations in legal industry and beyond regarding gender diversity advancement and professional development; recommend and implement programs and policies to advance the firm’s goals in this area.
Provide thought leadership and support to the firm’s global diversity & inclusion leadership, including the Women's Forum co-chairs, the Women’s Forum Committee and the firm’s women attorneys.
Analyze and monitor firm gender and diversity metrics, develop and maintain dashboards to support practice groups in retaining and promoting women and diverse attorneys, and provide operational support to further develop and maintain the dashboard initiative.
Partner with the Events team and key stakeholders to plan and execute annual Women’s Forum client events, alumni events, retreats and programming for women attorneys.
Provide operational and day-to-day support for the Women’s Forum, including coordinating internal meetings, client events and other programming affiliated with women’s initiatives.
Manage the Women’s Forum mentoring program, including building relationships with mentoring program members, help plan and promote mentoring events and programs, and track the mentoring program budget.
Manage the Women’s Forum grant program, including identifying grant opportunities, guide attorneys through the application process and collaborate with practice groups and other firm resources to support applicants in their professional development endeavors.
Collaborate with the firm’s Marketing team to develop and implement a marketing strategy to communicate the firm’s women’s initiatives via articles and publications, update and maintain content on the firm’s website, intranet and other publications, and help produce Women’s Forum newsletters for internal and external distribution.
Maintain strategic relationships with key industry organizations and coordinate the firm's participation in programs, sponsorships and conferences.
Monitor legal industry benchmarks and generate internal reports and presentations.
Coach and mentor women attorneys in a way that encourages, enables and augments their professional growth and development.
Partner with the Alumni team to support and leverage the alumni network strategically and promote the Re-ttorney Program.
Manage the Women’s Forum budget and collaborate with other departments, as necessary, to fund Women’s Forum programming.
Perform other work related duties, as necessary.
Bachelor’s degree required. J.D. and a minimum of 3 years practice experience or 4 to 6 years working in human resources at a peer law firm or professional services firm is preferred.
Knowledge of firm operation, policies and procedures.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to learn new software and operating systems.
Ability to interact effectively with and command the respect of all levels of personnel, including various internal stakeholders, attorneys, management and support staff.
Strong problem-solving, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently as well as within a diverse team environment to ensure work is executed efficiently and effectively.
Sound judgment and ability to respect, protect and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
Respond quickly and positively to shifting demands; be able to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks.
Ability to plan, organize and carry out multiple related activities across office geographies and flexibility to travel among the firm’s offices.
