The Senior Litigation Paralegal will serve a critical role in coordinating, managing, and supporting litigation and legal projects for the Office of Legal Affairs and University constituents on a range of subjects. The position will focus on litigation, employment, fact-development for investigations, and other legal projects. The individual in this role should have excellent organization and communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal) and should be a team player who demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness and embraces a high degree of engagement with cases, attorneys, and people across the University. The Office of Legal Affairs envisions this role as an integral one and would regard the individual in this role as a full partner in the most important undertakings of the office.
This position will report directly to the Associate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for the Office of Legal Affairs, and will work closely with the senior litigation counsel and other attorneys in the Office of Legal Affairs. The individual in this role will be expected to work at the highest professional level with integrity, excellent judgment, and attention to detail, and to demonstrate the highest personal characteristics of teamwork, inclusiveness, reliability, and adaptability to a broad range of issues, people, and situations.
Communicating, corresponding, and interacting with clients and outside entities, such as witnesses, vendors, and law firms to gather information or data.
Assisting in preparing for depositions, witness interviews, hearings, trials, and mediations.
Creating and implementing paper and electronic document collection, review, and production systems, and tracking documents and matters, including preparation of case- specific chronologies.
Creating and implementing case files and organizational systems for electronic and paper case files and folders.
Investigation and preparation of responses to administrative and employment related complaints.
Serving as a factual resource on cases and demonstrating knowledge of case documents.
Assisting attorneys in reviewing documents for case preparation.
Understanding and assisting with e-discovery and computer forensic concepts such as litigation holds, preservation of data, and chain of custody.
Compiles, reviews, and analyzes documents as required by attorneys specific to case issues and helps determine necessary information.
Delegating to, and supervising/mentoring other paralegals, case assistants, and staff as needed.
Performing research (factual, legal, internet, or other) to identify issues and relevant matters and prepares findings.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; five or more years of paralegal experience in a public or private law office; paralegal certification; strong computer skills including a working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; detail oriented; positive attitude.
Target Salary: $34.13 - $38.94 Hourly
