Advertised Summary Job Description: The Paralegal will assist the University's attorneys with both the U.S. and International activities and transactions, with an emphasis on the preparation and processing of documents needed to establish and maintain educational and research entities overseas. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting attorneys to prepare applications, resolutions and powers of attorney, and other materials needed to establish educational and research entities overseas; assisting attorneys to manage the application and registration process for overseas entities; assisting attorneys to manage on-going legal and tax compliance for overseas entities; help to maintain organizational books and records for overseas entities; managing files, research materials, meeting minutes and organizational documents; assisting attorneys with transactional work related to the university's overseas educational and research activities; and assisting attorneys with other university transactions and matters, both U.S. and international.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent and a minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in a law firm or a corporate law department.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: The candidate must be extremely well organized, efficient, responsible, and must have strong interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills required (Microsoft Office 2007 -Outlook 2007, Word 2007 and Excel 2007). Must have a current notary license.
Preferred Qualifications: A paralegal certificate is a plus.
