The University ofMaryland, Baltimore Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) is seeking a Researchand Technology Transfer Specialist. This position is responsible for monitoring technologytransfer operations and ensuring compliance with benchmarks, milestones, laws,regulations, policies, procedures, ethical standards and publicresponsibilities for the UMB OTT (UM Ventures) program. This individual will develop and maintaincompliance program components operational review, record keeping, programevaluation and reporting requirements.

Assist with the disclosure and review process for invention disclosures, including helping University faculty complete invention report forms. Prepare all federal reporting for intellectual property as required under federal regulations
Interact with outside patent attorneys, University Counsel, other Universities and private companies to coordinate and prepare necessary documents for patent prosecution and license agreements.
Serve as liaison to campus leadership, University Counsel and faculty and staff for intellectual property policies and procedures
Assist with UM license compliance process for University intellectual property that is subject to master license agreements, options and collaborations.
Manage internal records for patent issuance, annuity, and agreement compliance.
Prepare and obtain assignment of rights, and obtain Declarations, Power of Attorney and other legal documents as required
Assist with IP Data Management system and ad hoc OTT data reporting
Disseminates information on all areas of intellectual property compliance to the campus research community
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of technology transfer administration experience,
Associate's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and six (6) years of sponsored program, clinical or corporate contracts, or technology transfer administration experience,
Eight (8) years substantial sponsored program, clinical or corporate contracts, or technology transfer administration experience, including Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification,
Twelve (12) years substantial sponsored program, clinical or corporate contracts, or technology transfer administration experience with at least three (3) years with review, negotiation, and approval authorization in technology transfer administration.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Expertise in University, University System of Maryland, and Federal Intellectual Property policies. Knowledge of relevant federal, state, local and relevant campus laws, regulations and programs/policies. Able to perform position in compliance with all requirements, regulations, and laws. Knowledge of new technologies; ability to recognize emerging trends. Ability to apply knowledge broadly; uses specialized knowledge and communications skills to simplify the complex.
Ability to maintain high standards with the work being performed and maintain awareness with trends and influences. Assumes personal responsibility for all outcomes; makes effective and timely decisions; and learns how to effectively use technology.
Experience working with relational database/data management.
Strategic and analytical reasoning skills with ability to apply sound judgment in solving problems. Ability to prioritize ongoing and new projects and meet deadlines.
