We are currently seeking a talented Attorney – Insurance Regulation for our San Antonio, TX facility. This attorney will be part of a team responsible for supporting USAA on corporate / holding company insurance regulatory matters and related enterprise matters.
Provide legal advice and services of a routine to moderately complex nature to various internal clients.
Apply general knowledge regarding relevant business, industry, and area of legal specialty. Handle a variety of moderately complex to complex legal assignments, including drafting clear, concise communications to internal and external partners and regulators. Conduct legal research and assists more senior attorneys in providing legal services. Support business operations by providing counsel to insurers and staff agencies concerning corporate / holding. company insurance regulatory matters, including affiliate transactions, reporting, and investments. Monitor legal, regulatory, and industry developments in the area of corporate / holding company insurance regulation.
Strong understanding of corporate / holding company insurance regulations. Ability to work in fast-paced environment and provide advice under tight deadlines. Ability to work effectively and collaborate cross-functionally, think practically, and be solution-oriented. Ability to collaborate and be capable of building strong relationships with peers, as well as with internal and external partners and regulators in multiple states. Drive for results, including innovation.
JD from an accredited law school. 4 or more years insurance regulatory experience. Licensed and in good standing with a State Bar Association Strong communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools and applicable software.
Prior corporate / holding company insurance regulatory experience, preferably with a Department of Insurance or other state regulatory agency. Experience handling regulatory issues related to insurance holding companies, including affiliate transactions, investments, and reporting. Member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas. Excellent academic credentials and legal training.
