Responsibilities of this position include: Oversees attorney recruitment, development and HR matters for the office.
Manage the effective implementation of the Summer Program (plan and coordinate events; lead orientation program; manage work assignment process; handle new hire orientation process and exit process; coordinate offer decision)
Manage the on-campus recruiting processes (set up interview schedules; prepare information packets; host hospitality suites at onsite and offsite events; maintain relationship with Career Services Officers)
Manage the lateral attorney recruiting effort (interact with search firms to communicate hiring needs; work with partners to determine hiring goals; schedule candidate interviews; prepare offer letters; oversee conflicts clearance process and all procedures required before the start of a new attorney)
Manage the recruitment process for all attorneys (summer program, fall associates, law clerks, foreign interns, inbound office secondments, lateral associates, counsel, partners and independent contractors);
Works with the Washington (WDC) office Partner-in-Charge, the Firm’s Hiring Partners and Firm Practice Leaders (FPL) to facilitate WDC lateral partner process to include maintaining search firm relationships, scheduling interviews, update of global tracking chart and collation of candidate materials for submission to Management Committee;
Update lead U.S. ADR lateral partner recruitment professional monthly on lateral partner activity for the WDC office;
Manage attorney compliance with state bar admission (including DC bar waive in procedures and compliance), CLE requirements and state bar dues payments, in coordination with firm wide Attorney Personnel
Interact with U.S. offices on CLE compliance for attorneys admitted in multiple jurisdictions or for accreditation of courses for VA CLE credits
Manage attorney retention initiatives for attorney integration and mentoring programs, attorney dinners/functions/panels, etc.
Coordinate internal and external marketing of training & development initiatives
Manage new lateral lawyer orientation and highlight training & development opportunities at the firm
Work with WDC Women’s Forum to develop and implement women’s initiatives, coordinate events
Work with Hiring Partners and Partner-in-Charge on diverse law student outreach initiatives
Manage attorney human resources issues such as leaves of absence, separations, reclassifications to part time status, personnel file records, immigration issues, office transfers and international secondments, etc.
Responsible for audit of PeopleSoft data on WDC attorneys and related reporting
Coordinate the oral review process for WDC attorneys; assist with overall attorney evaluation process as needed
Coordinate exit process for WDC attorneys
Manage arrangements for in-house training programs for rsvp process, space, a/v, catering, communications, materials, evaluations, speakers, CLE, administration for sign in, certificates, etc.
Manage use of attorney training related software: MB archived programs, CE Manager for CLE recordkeeping and WestLegalEd and PLI for online CLE programs
Provide on-the-ground support to other ADR professionals when training events hosted in WDC
ADR Department Management:
Train, develop and supervise WDC ADR departmental staff of two; manage workflow and allocation
Manage WDC budgets for department, women’s initiatives, and recruiting initiatives
Active participant in Committee on Associates & Counsel and Women’s Forum
