DUTIES: The selected individual will report to the Supervisor of the Correspondence Area, The individual must have strong electronic system experience, good interpersonal skills necessary to address physician and staff. SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE: Responsible for the release of information to all requesters including patients, physicians and other healthcare providers. Responsible for the release of medical information to insurance companies and lawyers. Responsible for timely processing of subpoenas from the courts and Social Security Administration. Verify authorization in accordance with hospital policy and procedures and State and Federal laws. Schedule appointments for review of records by attorney, auditors, patients etc. Prompt response to all telephone, fax and walk-in inquiries, Department of Health and other hospital request for medical information. Assist with special projects. Will be cross-trained in all HIM functions. The following systems are utilized with the Alpha Scanning System, Healthbridge Electronic Medical Record, 3M Chart Tracking System and OmniMD and Verisma. Ensure strict adherence to security and confidentiality guidelines of HIPPA. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: A minimum of one (1) year of experience in Health Information Management and a comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology. Familiarity with HIPPA, Federal and State Laws. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. PREFERRED: Associate's degree with two years related work experience in a healthcare environment, preferably in Health Information Management.
