The eHIM Specialist III position will work at the centralized release of information offices for SCL Health System Healthcare currently located on the Lutheran Medical Center campus.
This position is responsible for releasing medical information from the electronic and paper medical record to authorized parties including but not limited to physicians, attorneys, insurance companies and patients. Applicant must understand legal requirements along with state and federal law in regard to HIPAA privacy. Knowledge and experience in release of information, medical records (electronic and paper) is required.
Performs specialized health information activities necessary to organize, maintain and use electronic and paper patient health records. This position will process and/or provide electronic and paper health information to various customers in a timely manner; maintain health information in a confidential manner and secure environment. In addition, performs physician and clinician support, electronic health record analysis, data integrity activities and release of information functions. Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and requirements. Will support department activities such as back-up clerical functions within the department, answer the phone and provide customer service. Participate in department quality improvement projects and complete offsite storage record requests as necessary. Promotes mission, vision and values of SCL Health System Healthcare.
