Wiley Rein LLP, a leading Washington, DC law firm, is currently seeking a Technical Instructor. As an integral member of the Training Department, you will work with a group of talented and innovative leaders to design and deliver best in class training programs to our attorneys and professional staff. About the Position
Under the direction of the Director of Training, the Technical Instructor will design, develop, and deliver firm-wide training programs, including eLearning videos and training materials/documentation. The Technical Instructor will also be involved in the strategy and planning behind the development of an overall training program curriculum for end users of all types. This includes coordinating with practice and department leads to assess training needs and objectives and performing end user needs assessments.
Core responsibilities include:
Develop and implement educational strategies, methodologies and delivery mechanisms to achieve Firm knowledge development goals
Create, administer, analyze, and report on end user needs assessments
Develop and provide training to attorneys and staff regarding all technology including changes and upgrades
Design, develop, implement, and evaluate training curriculum, exercises, assessments, supporting documentation, and other materials to be used in training
Create eLearning videos to supplement and reinforce live training
Orient and train new attorneys and staff on Wiley Rein’s network, standard software, telephones and systems
Schedule attorneys and staff for ongoing technical and developmental training programs
Create and communicate training schedules in consultation with departmental decision makers
Participate in drafting, development and distribution of routine technical awareness campaigns
Perform floor support, visiting offices and workspaces and providing support and training on a regular basis
Create and administer training event feedback mechanisms. Analyze results, make recommendations for training improvement, and integrate changes in curriculum and/or courses
Maintain training room by ensuring equipment is in place and working properly, training areas are clean, and supplies and training materials are available for all classes
Develop and review training materials and documentation and keep them up to date
Maintain learning management system to track training participants’ status and results
Participate in evaluating new software applications for potential deployment to the Firm
Work with internal application team and external vendors to stay apprised of changes and upcoming developments in existing software applications
Communicate software problems and issues to software development and support teams
Provide end-user technical support and assistance as needed
Assess, recommend, and acquire courseware packages, and support development of appropriate courseware tools
Participate in identification and recruitment of instructors and external course providers for specialized training needs
Conduct research into computer-based training products and services in support of development and purchasing efforts
About the Person

Flexibility and willingness to respond to issues during and outside of core business hours
The successful candidate should possess a college degree (preferred), along with five (5) years of relevant training experience in a law firm or professional services environment. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate expertise with software applications in use by the firm, including but not limited to:
Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Position operates in a professional office environment which is usually quiet to moderate
The Firm requires that the duties and responsibilities of this position be performed onsite during scheduled work hours.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read information. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or move objects up to 20 pounds.
