Greenberg Traurig, a global law firm, currently has an excellent full-time employment opportunity in the Human Resources Department of our Boston office. This is a unique opportunity to lead and implement innovative HR solutions for an office of 120 attorneys and business staff.
The Human Resources Manager partners with the Business Director to provide HR, Professional Development and Recruiting support to the local office which includes facilitating employee relations, recruitment, performance management, training and development, policy administration, compensation administration, and regulatory compliance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for recruitment and retention of staff and attorneys. Sources, screens, and identifies candidates for employment. Reviews applications, prepares offer letters, conducts reference checks, and administers background checks. Takes point on summer associate program for office.
Conducts new hire orientation.
Provides guidance to employees on issues relating to Benefits, FMLA, STD, and Worker’s Compensation.
Handles and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts investigations as needed.
Develops and implements effective and efficient HR processes, practices, and procedures
Interprets and administers policies. Makes recommendation for policy changes where appropriate.
Manages annual review process for staff and associates.
Assists and coaches management in dealing with and documenting performance issues. Participates in disciplinary meetings or separations.
Facilitates manager training. Assists managers in identifying areas of development and make appropriate recommendations for training and development.
Understands basic principles of compensation. Makes salary recommendations and assists Business Director with annual salary and bonus administration.
Ensures that necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.
Ensures recruitment, personnel, I-9 and EEO files are properly set up and maintained.
Processes new hire and separation paperwork.
Ensures compliance with Federal and state laws.
Works on projects with Shared Services.
Administer the associate mentoring program and process.
Act as a resource for staff and attorneys on their learning expectations and goals, including CLE compliance and registration for those licensed in jurisdictions with CLE requirements.
Work with the Hoffman Center and local shareholders to develop and implement local training programs.
Liaise with local office management and the Career Development Liaison to assist with development and retention of legal talent.
Skills & Competencies:
Understands best practices in the field of Human Resources.
General knowledge of employment laws and practices.
Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs.
Demonstrated ability to effectively recruit.
Ability to establish credibility with attorneys and executive management.
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Office suite.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Effective oral and written communication.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Excellent organizational skills.
Qualifications & Prior Experience:
BA plus 7-10 years experience as an HR Generalist.
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred not required.
Prior experience working in a law firm required.
Experience recruiting attorneys a plus
Experience with ATS and HRIS systems
Requires manual dexterity and physical mobility, including the ability to move frequently (several times an hour) from work station or desk throughout the work area to work independently or with team
Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
