This position is responsible for the general management of the Office of the Vice President and General Counsel's processing of important contracts which the University enters into, including professional services, special services, leases, purchase and sales, licenses, and releases and waivers. Responsible for receiving and reviewing all incoming correspondence from University departments concerning contracts. Responsible for obtaining necessary information from appropriate departments, drafting contracts, and reviewing proposed contracts prior to a final review by counsel. Responsible for maintaining database of contracts reviewed and drafted by OGC.
BA or BS and 5-7 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of skills and experience
Legal education and/or extensive legal experience especially with contracts administration in law offices or other legal settings
Knowledge of legal terminology and principles of contract law required
Strong organizational, administrative and time management skills
Initiative and judgment to independently problem solve and prioritize
The ability to independently develop and implement short and long term goals
Ability to work independently, but also as a strong team member when the situation warrants
Effective oral and written communication skills and good command of English language and grammar necessary
Computer expertise and continued interest in maintaining skills: Computer proficiency in word processing, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Amicus Attorney, Filemaker Pro, Excel and familiarity with the world wide web
Must be able to maintain confidentiality
