Professional Development Manager, Litigation and Creditors’ Rights

Work in tandem with the Director of Professional Development and roughly three dozen Litigation and Creditors’ Rights partners based in the firm’s New York office to address the optimal professional development of the firm’s nearly 90 Litigation and Creditors’ Rights associates and special counsel.
Engage with Litigation and Creditors’ Rights associates and special counsel to identify and understand issues of importance regarding their work experience, implement responsive initiatives, provide individualized short- and long-term professional-development guidance, and generally assist the population.
Work with the Director of Professional Development and firm lawyers to develop and implement the firm’s Litigation and Creditors’ Rights training curricula, including internal and external programs and the development of “Kramer Levin University” resources; identify department-specific training needs, generate training topics, and ensure CLE–standard compliance; spearhead deposition- and communication-skills programs.
Monitor Litigation and Creditors’ Rights associate and special counsel utilization and departmental needs; assist with staffing solutions to maximize each associate’s variety of work, exposure to different partners, and opportunity to develop and hone skills; support partners in resource planning and in building high-performance teams.
Work with the Director of Professional Development and firm partners to improve and implement the firm’s performance-evaluation process to focus efforts on ensuring that appropriate and consistent messages are delivered during annual and off-cycle reviews; assist with viEval administration and the annual bonus- and compensation-determination processes.
Collaborate with the Professional Development team and others to assist with development and implementation of mentoring programs, coordination of survey responses, and organization of morale-building events; manage department-specific career counseling (including facilitation of outplacement where appropriate), and assist with onboarding / integration and exit processes for Litigation and Creditors’ Rights attorneys.
Must be a motivated self-starter and a thoughtful, creative, resourceful, and resilient problem-solver with a demonstrated ability to drive innovation and change and a strong interest in lawyer development and training.
JD and significant relevant experience, preferably in a large law firm environment, required.
Excellent presentation and communication skills, including ability to work with and present to firm management and partnership.
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work both independently and as a team player; demonstrated ability to inspire positive morale while simultaneously enhancing employee productivity and work ethic.
Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to (and excellent judgment in connection with) confidential attorney and firm matters.
Strong execution and organizational skills and ability to perform detailed work accurately, thoroughly, and consistently.
Technical and computer skills; PowerPoint and advanced Excel ability a plus.
