Willcox Savage, a law firm located in Norfolk, VA, seeks an IT Manager.
The IT Manager, a critical part of the firm’s administrative support team, will work closely with attorneys, other members of the IT department, and firm personnel to develop and deploy the firm’s IT resources.
Successful candidates must understand current best practices and tools for supporting end-user and enterprise operation systems. Top candidates will be excellent leaders, skilled in clear and calm communication, analysis, assessment, technical writing, and solution development.
Responsibilities and Duties
Oversight and management of the IT department and staff, including nurturing staff professional development and growth, providing guidance on technical matters, and promoting teamwork and cooperation
Ensuring that the firm’s network, software, help desk, litigation support function, and training support the firm’s goals and its end-users
Provide technical consultation and support in enterprise systems, ranging from Active Directory, Exchange SCCM, SCOM, VMM, DPM backup to virtualization, storage, networking, and server management across all Windows Server variations
Manage the development and acquisition of new technologies and tools to improve the organization’s internal operations and data delivery; accountable for related budget
Procure and deploy the latest hardware and software and oversee the day-to-day activities of the department
Monitor business system performance through the use of metrics and statistical process control methods; maintain data security/control environment, IT business continuity/disaster recovery plans, and enhanced virtualization architecture technologies
Install, configure and deploy new hardware; perform software upgrades and maintenance; complete other IT-related projects
Qualifications and Skills
B.S. degree in Computer Science or comparable field
Minimum 5 years of experience in IT management in a professional services firm, preferably a law firm
Service-oriented self-starter who takes initiative
Strong organizational skills
Administration and expert level of skill and problem solving in the following: Exchange, Active Directory, SCCM, Windows Server 2008 R2 onward, SQL, PowerShell, Citrix VDI infrastructure and software, and common end-user software
Experience with enterprise equipment such as physical servers, switches, routers and other common IT appliances & devices
Experience writing clear and concise user communications, policies, and processes
Microsoft, CompTIA, Citrix, Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization, Microsoft System Center Suite, Cisco, and other industry recognized credentials or certifications are highly desirable, but not required
Experience working with legal industry applications on the enterprise administration side is highly desirable, but not required
