As a Benefits Analyst you will perform a variety of benefits-related activities to ensure the organization’s programs are market-competitive and supportive of overall Employee health and wellbeing. You will develop, evaluate and implement benefits programs, including benefits plan design, compliance and administration. Communicate with Employees to provide benefits education, ensure smooth benefits administration and problem-solve escalated benefits-related issues.
Maintain responsibility for various benefits areas, including medical and dental insurance, life, disability and other leave insurances, vision insurance, travel accident, 401(k) retirement plan, pet insurance, personal growth leave and other areas.
Participate in benefit plan design. Learn about new benefits developments through insurance brokers, surveys, discussions and other sources. Participate in planning future benefits strategy. Partner with brokers to consider new benefits or changes to existing benefits and extend requests for proposals to vendors. Understand what will and will not work in the Company culture, ensuring decisions are made with appropriate background and context.
Maintain understanding of legislative, regulatory and other changes that affect benefit plans. Learns details of laws and regulations, understanding how plans will work within the legal and regulatory frameworks and ensuring Company compliance. Coordinate with benefits attorneys, brokers, accountants and others to answer questions and administer plans in compliance on an ongoing basis. Constructs and administers models that structure, organize and maintain ongoing compliance. Reviews and distributes various plan documents.
Perform a variety of plan administration and communication activities. Learn and understand plan mechanics and details. Conduct insurance open enrollment meetings, presents benefits-related information at a variety of meetings and problem-solve escalated Employee benefits issues. Research information, coordinate among various parties and ensure best possible Employee outcomes within the legal constraints of the benefit plan.
Perform various benefits-related analytical activities. Coordinate with brokers to perform claims and other analyses. Draw conclusions, make recommendations and implement agreed-upon plans.
Maintain knowledge of Company products and services as well as changes and developments in the industry affecting work activities. May participate in outside industry groups and forums related to benefits activities.
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Experience with Health and Welfare Benefits – experience managing plans.
Experience with Canadian Benefits preferred. Analytical ability to define problems, analyze alternatives and develop logical solution. You will be highly organized, accurate and detail-oriented and will have the ability to manage projects. You will have great business relationship-building/management skills combined with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Extensive sitting, phone and computer use. Hearing acuity sufficient to effectively communicate via telephone and in person. Weekend hours may be required. Some travel may be required.
