Michael Best is hiring a Recruiting Specialist in the Chicago or Waukesha office to support the Intellectual Property Practice Group. This position will recruit for non-Partner positions such as Associates, Senior Counsel, Staff Attorneys, Engineers, Scientists, Agents, IP Administrators, and other roles, as assigned. The Recruiting Specialist will partner with other recruiters and Human Resources to develop recruiting programs, processes, procedures, and practices that result in a flow of diverse, qualified candidates. This role is responsible for all aspects of recruiting, from pre-screening through to offer.
Discuss talent needs with the practice groups to prepare and implement recruitment program.
Develop multiple recruitment strategies to attract diverse, qualified applicants.
Review applications, screen, and refer candidates to the various practice groups for interviews.
Schedule interviews and provide guidance to Michael Best professionals involved in the interview process.
Develop and place advertisements in various media to generate a broad set of candidates.
Develop and maintain a network of contacts to help identify and source diverse, qualified candidates.
Collaborate with other HR/Recruiting employees to determine best practices or strategies in problem-solving issues.
Coordinate and compose confirmation and rejection letters, offer packets, and internal review and approval documentation related to the offer process.
Establish relationships for the Firm at various recruiting or career events, and diversity organizations, and with those seeking opportunities.
Vet external recruiters and agencies to identify and recruit candidates.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of employment law and pertinent government regulations and requirements
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to handle multiple, often competing priorities and a rapidly changing business climate
Strong "client first" service orientation
Professional self-presentation and communication in both verbal and written form
Ability to write reports and business correspondence
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and various federal and state governmental regulations
Ability to effectively present information to engage and respond to applicants, colleagues, and Firm leadership
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Ability to use Recruiting and HR systems
Ability to travel on day trips as required, up to 30%
Ability to travel on overnight trips, up to 5%
Education and Experience:
3+ years of recruiting experience
Experience recruiting for legal or technical roles a plus
