APPLICATIONS NEEDED TO FILL POSITION OF COUNTY ATTORNEY
The Hardin County Board of Supervisors is seeking applications to fill the vacancy for the office of the Hardin County Attorney. The Board of Supervisors will fill the position by appointment as allowed under the Iowa Code, but the electors of the County have the right to file a petition requiring the vacancy be filled by special election. The person appointed will fulfill the duties of the County Attorney as described in Iowa Code Section 331.756.
Pursuant to Iowa Code Section 331.751, the person appointed must be a registered voter and resident of Hardin County on the date of appointment, be admitted to the practice of law in the State of Iowa, qualify by taking the oath of office, and give bond. A person is not qualified for the office while their license to practice law in Iowa or any other state is suspended or revoked. The appointment shall be for the period of time until the next pending election, which will be November 6, 2018.
This is a part-time county attorney vacancy. The Hardin County Board of Supervisors intends to adopt a resolution to change the status of the office of Hardin County Attorney from part-time to full-time following the next pending election pursuant to Iowa Code Section 331.752.
The 2018 fiscal year salary is $57,415. A list of benefits can be obtained from the Hardin County Auditor’s Office.

The completed application and applicant’s resume must be filed in the Hardin County Auditor’s Office or submitted through the Hardin County website by 4:30 p.m. on May 18, 2018. The Hardin County Board of Supervisors will meet to appoint the County Attorney position at 8:00 a.m. on May 23, 2018.
