Non-profit Austin Region Justice for Our Neighbors (ARJFON) is a faith-driven ministry of the United Methodist Church that welcomes immigrants into our communities by providing low-cost or free, high-quality immigration legal services, education, and advocacy. (www.njfon.org.)
The Legal Director is responsible for the provision of all immigration legal services at ARJFON legal clinics, for continuing legal representation of ARJFON clients, and for the supervision and training of pro bono attorneys and volunteers. The Legal Director serves as the public face of ARJFON, the operational leader of the ministry, and the primary point of contact for the Board President, Board of Directors, community partners and funders.
The Legal Director should have a strong commitment to public interest legal services and to the enfranchisement and empowerment of newcomer immigrant communities. The Legal Director should have an appreciation of the spiritual principles of this work and an ability to work sensitively with numerous volunteers and clients having diverse personalities, lifestyles, cultures, political orientations and various faiths. Knowledge of immigration and nationality law and prior experience in this field is required. The Legal Director must hold and maintain an active license to practice law. The Legal Director is full-time exempt employee of ARJFON; compensation package is market for public interest attorneys.
