Our Fiscal and Audit Services Department, has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Contracts Specialist .This individual's responsibilities will include:
In close consultation with AAG, negotiate and draft agreements, memo of understandings, service provider agreements, and certain types of outbound revenue generating agreements and inbound vendor agreements.
Establish and continuously refine standard contract terms and templates for use across campus.
Research contract language and seek guidance on complex terms and conditions, communicate program contract management related issues to the Director of Fiscal and Audit Services.
Review cost and price proposals to ensure they are prepared and submitted in strict accordance with applicable laws, regulations, contractual provisions and university policy.
Assist departments in preparing amendments, renewals and other legal documents.
Evaluate internal controls to ensure actual costs for service agreements are recovered.
Compliance and Risk Evaluation
Coordinate with other university functions as required ensuring that (a) appropriate reviews are scheduled and conducted, and (b) required review and approval signatures are obtained before submittal of proposals or execution of contractual documents.
Identify, assess and mitigate contract risks by knowing and incorporating UW standard terms, conditions and standards for insurance and indemnification, information security and privacy and other standard terms and conditions developed by UW Procurement Services. Consult with the Office of the Attorney General, Chief Information Security Office, Risk Services, Procurement Services and other resources as appropriate.
Administer all aspects of assigned contract processing including, but not limited to, contract funding, scope changes, contract amendments, legal requirements and other commitments.
Administer contract requirements by monitoring for compliance, measuring performance against schedule, and ensuring contract activities align with university policies, regulatory/legal requirements, and team input/guidance/requests.
Develop a process and serve as the central repository for maintaining executed agreements in accordance with contract requirements and university policies and procedures; maintain all correspondence and contracts documentation in an organized manner.
Provide formal and ad-hoc training on contracting process and policies.
This position will be responsible for balancing time and assignments to meet all workload goals as well as work in accordance with institutional and departmental policies, procedures, and delegations of authority.

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
Extensive contract management experience, with a minimum of 4 to 5 years' experience in contract negotiations and/or a commercial or public sector administrative law practice including WA state experience.
Experience of university and/or government principles, practices, rules, regulations, and procedures of public purchasing and contracting and contract administration practices.
Knowledge of terms and conditions for drafting and evaluation of contract language.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate contract terms and conditions to protect the interests of the institution, including working understanding of common contract negotiation issues that arise.
Excellent verbal negotiating skills and drafting skills in a fast-paced environment is essential.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation development and delivery.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external constituencies, including students, faculty and staff.
Demonstrated ability to function independently, as well as collaboratively as a motivated, enthusiastic member of a team committed to providing excellent customer service within an organizational framework of continuous process improvement.
Ability to work with a diverse constituency.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
MBA, JD or advanced degree in a relevant field.
Certification as C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manager) or CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management).
Experience in higher education setting.
University of Washington contracting experience preferred.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Working more than an eight hour day as the norm, rather than the exception. Some evening and weekend work may be required. Sit for long periods of time in front of a computer screen. Travel to meetings at the UW Seattle campus.
