Morrison & Foerster LLP, an Am Law 50 law firm with 17 offices worldwide, has an opening for a Senior Systems Engineer within our Information Technology Department in our San Francisco office.
Guided by department objectives and priorities, responsible for the testing, integration, configuration, deployment and operations of the firm's remote access environment as well as remote published applications and desktops. Research, develop/build, test, and report on product developments in current and future remote access technologies. Technologies include Azure Remote App, Windows Remote Desktop Services for Windows Server 2012, Citrix XenDesktop, VMWARE, NetScaler / Access Gateway, Juniper VPN, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), VBS Scripting, PowerShell, Active Directory. Ensures client services and satisfaction are attained in all areas of position.
Research, develop/build, test and report on product developments in current and future remote access technologies. Evaluate solutions and document recommendations to our Remote Desktop Services and XenDesktop environments as well as moving potential workload to Microsoft Azure.
Maintain deployments of XenDesktop Farms, running XenDesktop 7 and implement processes for deployment of applications into a XenDesktop environment working in tandem with SCCM and SCOM engineers.
Apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, isolate, and communicate to ensure proper handling of issues with applications in our XenDesktop environment. Ensure technology solutions are developed and implemented effectively with Firm resources.
Support Juniper VPN Technology/Citrix Access Gateway Technology/creates designs for improved VPN access and fault tolerance.
Support Citrix NetScaler platform.
Analyze and resolve end user's remote connectivity issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required. Demonstrate advanced techniques to analyze complex technical problems in a systematic and communicable manner.
Integrate client resources, IPads/ Tablets, Smartphones, MAC workstations into remote access solutions.
Perform server analysis and capacity planning and testing for Remote Desktop Service / XenDesktop Farms. The XenDesktop farm is 100% virtual; therefore, vSphere knowledge is beneficial.
Perform day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of large XenDesktop Farms. Tools that support these activities are Citrix Studio/Director and SCOM.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or combination of education and experience is preferred.
Minimum of seven years experience working as a Windows administrator. Strong understanding of Windows 7 and greater Desktop and Mac OS is a plus.
Expert level knowledge and experience with remote client solutions (Terminal Server and/or XenDesktop) - CCAA is preferred.
Fundamental understanding of network technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP.
Microsoft Active Directory Administration -MCSA or MCSE is preferred.
Experience with VPN technology from Juniper, Citrix Access Gateway, Netscaler.
Enterprise experience (over 2000+ users in multiple world-wide geographic locations) required. Large law firm experience desired.
Experience in deploying and supporting SSL appliances is desirable.
Scripting or programming skills highly desirable. SCCM skills are a plus.
Remain current in industry trends in Information Technology and the legal profession.
Ensure expertise in technology relevant to the position; proactively use most current technology to further teamwork, client service, and efficiency.
Participate on projects that increase the value of services to clients, attorneys, timekeepers and the Firm.
