McGuireWoods LLP has an opening for an Attorney Recruiting Coordinator in our Charlotte, NC office. The Coordinator will assist with all aspects of the summer associate hiring program including, coordinating on-campus interviews, scheduling call-back interviews, and generating reports. The ideal candidate will have two years of experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
Summer Associate Program:
Create, plan and develop summer associate training programs and events. Conduct research to find out what other Firms are doing. Determine the need to hire instructors outside of the Firm. Plan the events to include selection of food and drink, tickets and transportation, working with caterers, attending the event and ensuring everything is running smoothly.
Conduct pre-summer planning/informational meetings, in conjunction with the manager, prior to the start of the summer program.
Facilitate orientation for summer associates. Continually monitor and hone the orientation program to ensure it effectively and accurately relays pertinent Firm and new hire information.
Provide guidance to summer associates using discretion in working with them. Assess their technical skills, interpersonal skills, how they interact with each other, how they handle themselves at functions, etc. Make the decision to pair them up with another attorney if another attorney/practice area would be a better fit. Advise them on things they need to improve upon.
Prepare mid and final summer review materials for Summer Program Committee. Prepare evaluation summary charts and other related offer meeting materials at conclusion of program.
Devise and allocate monies toward summer associate events. Chart the budget on an Excel spreadsheet and ensure offices for which the coordinator is responsible for is operating within the budget.
Advise summer associates of available housing opportunities.
Register firm with law schools for on campus interviewing.
Review and assist in selecting law student resumes for on campus interviews.
Interview candidates and complete interview evaluation form. Schedule interviews with attorneys based on the candidates interest in a particular practice area. Collect all interview evaluation forms, enter into LawCruit database and prepare materials for weekly offer meeting with recruiting committee.
Participate in recruiting committees regarding decisions on candidates. Provide input and recommendation based upon own interview with candidate and/or evaluations completed by all evaluators.
Develop/implement student outreach pre fall recruiting, diversity outreach to student organizations and outreach to judicial clerks. Contact law schools and meet with officials to determine how McGuire Woods can help. Send invitations to minority organizations (Latino, African American, Asian, etc.). Devise and implement budget for specific outreach and recruiting event.
Coordinate first year associate mailings, including transcript requests.
Maintain stats regarding first year hiring.
Develop and implement supplemental orientation program.
Work in conjunction with manager in scheduling/coordinating lateral applicants as needed.
Assist with fielding search firm inquiries as necessary.
Assist in the completion of annual NALP forms. Assist with NALP and law school surveys.
Provide coverage for manager when manager is traveling to other offices, meetings or vacation.
Interact with firm-wide recruiting professionals, local recruiting members and all attorneys/staff regarding professional recruiting, summer programs and activities.
Travel as needed to other offices.
Perform additional duties as directed.
Participate in professional groups such as city groups and NALP.
Near acuity, ability to position oneself to move, ability to express oneself and convey information in an efficient manner, ability to operate office equipment such as fax, phone, computer, copy machine, etc.
College degree (bachelor's degree preferred but not required) and a minimum of 2 years professional related recruiting experience.
