Emord & Associates, P.C., located in Gilbert, Arizona, is searching for a paralegal to support attorneys in its constitutional, administrative, and litigation practice. Paralegals will work directly under the supervision of licensed attorneys, and have the following responsibilities:
Investigate and develop factual areas relevant to litigation
Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, legal decisions, and scientific issues
Organize and maintain documents in electronic filing systems
Gather and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation
Write reports, summaries, and notations for lawyers in preparation for trials and hearings
Draft correspondence and legal documents
Gather affidavits and other formal statements that may be used as evidence in court
Assist lawyers during trials and hearings by handling exhibits, recording notes, or reviewing trial transcripts
File exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents with the court or opposing counsel
Research local rules of court and standing orders for managing attorneys
Manage docket calendaring and case scheduling events
Contact clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, and depositions
In addition, the paralegal will assist the attorneys in organizing document binders and creating exhibit files for pleadings or briefs. The paralegal will complete logistical tasks, including, e.g., reserving office space, maintaining litigation calendars, and managing computer folder systems. The paralegal will use technology and computer software for managing and organizing Electronically Stored Information (ESI) and data collected during a case. Experience with LexisNexis Concordance software is a plus but not required. Experience with the federal CM/ECF filing system and PACER is highly preferred, but not required. Experience with Adobe Professional (for PDF documents) is required.
Excellent writing skills are required, as are computer skills. The firm's paralegals will routinely use the following applications or software: LexisNexis Concordance; Microsoft Office; Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Adobe Professional; WestlawNext; and LexisNexis PCLaw.
Additional Salary Information: Salary Dependent on Experience.
