Thompson Coburn LLP currently has an exempt position available in our St. Louis office for a full time Professional Development and Legal Recruiting Manager with three years of full cycle law student recruiting experience. Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor degree. The person selected for this position must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Legal Recruiting and Professional Development
Responsible for development and implementation of law student recruiting and hiring efforts; works with the Director of Professional Recruiting, Development & Diversity and the Employment Committee.
Manages the summer associate recruiting and hiring.
Reviews and screens resumes submitted by candidates.
Manages the scheduling of on-campus interviews (“OCI”).
Coordinates attorney information packets for OCI.
Schedules all follow-up and call-back interviews for candidates and coordinates necessary logistics.
Coordinates interview schedules for candidates.
Meets with Employment Committee and organizes and presents candidate information/evaluations.
Plans, coordinates and attends summer program events, including substantive and social events.
Responsible for the overall functioning and accuracy of LawCruit in all steps of the recruiting process and in support of the summer associate program:
Produces appropriate reports
Manages and update all automated forms and templates
Provides technical support and resolves LawCruit issues for department
Provides training to other users as needed
Serves as main contact for Micron (LawCruit vendor)
Assists the Director of Professional Recruiting, Development & Diversity as needed in monitoring the recruiting budget, approving recruiting-related expenses, and paying invoices for same.
Develops content for law student recruiting external web site and ensures site remains current.
Coordinates arrangements and orientation for Fall Associates.
In conjunction with the Marketing Department, develops marketing materials for law student recruiting.
Develops and implements plans to establish a recognizable “employer of choice” reputation for the Firm, both internally and externally.
Develops and implements plans to build relationships with key law schools and their career services personnel.
In conjunction with the Marketing Department, develops and maintains a firmwide branding scheme for the Firm’s law student and lateral attorney recruiting, including a logo and tagline.
Keeps current on industry best practices impacting policy and the recruitment and retention of attorneys by maintaining contact with others in the field (e.g., professional associations and educational groups, and professional development efforts).
Produces monthly, year-end, and ad hoc recruiting reports.
Develops and implements attorney professional development programming.
Develops and implements paralegal professional development programming.
Provides guidance in the CLE compliance process, maintenance of compliance files and attorney files, and completion of annual MO reports (Form 1).
Recruiting and retention projects as assigned by the Director of Professional Recruiting, Development & Diversity.
Assists Director of Professional Recruiting, Development & Diversity in the development of the annual department administrative operations plan and budget.
Assists Director of Professional Recruiting, Development & Diversity with special projects.
Must have a working knowledge of CLE accreditation requirements and Missouri’s annual compliance process.
Requires ability to use tact and diplomacy when interacting with others, and ability to communicate professionally with attorneys, candidates, department members, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Must possess a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills so as to be able to work well with employees at all levels within the organization and maintain all information in the strictest of confidence. Required to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with others.
Must have ability to read, write, and communicate fluent English; ability to compose documents in the appropriate business style using correct grammar and spelling; ability to communicate clearly using proper grammar and diction over the telephone.
Must possess attention to detail, ability to balance multiple projects, and have strong time management skills.
Must have ability to reason and apply common-sense understanding to situations encountered.
Ability to process routine daily functions while being able to resolve sensitive issues and complex assignments utilizing above average critical thinking skills.
The physical demands of this position are representative of those that must be met by an employee in order for him or her to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. These include being both mobile and stationary throughout the work day, having the ability to transport 20 pounds and being able to operate a computer and other business equipment found in the office.
