Goldman Sachs Asset Management ("GSAM") is looking for an attorney, preferably with asset management experience, to provide legal support to GSAM's institutional client business (typically central banks, sovereign wealth funds, superannuation/pension funds, and banking entities). The role will cover GSAM in Australia, but will also support GSAM's business in Asia ex Japan including China and HK. Candidates should be familiar with investment management agreements, and be able to assist with negotiating the same, and providing ongoing legal support to the GSAM client implementation and client relationship management teams.
The role will also cover: - assisting with client facing communications and documentation related to GSAM's institutional separate accounts business - working closely with the GSAM business and management in relation to regulatory matters in Australia and Asia ex-Japan, including HK and China, - assisting to design, review and implement processes as required to respond to client needs and regulatory change - advising and supporting the broader GSAM Australia business, including advising on licensing issues, acting as an advisor to the GSAMA Board of directors as required, working closely with the GSAM compliance division liaising with ASIC and other regulators.
The role will be within the GSAM Asia Pacific ex Japan Legal team and based in Hong Kong. The GSAM Asia Pacific ex Japan Legal team is part of the broader global GSAM legal team, and provides ongoing support with respect to advisory issues related to mutual funds, alternative investment funds and institutional clients. The role would be well suited for a junior-mid level lawyer looking for the next step to expand and grow their practice and expertise.
5-8+ years' related legal experience post-JD in a reputable law firm, fund, asset management firm or investment bank
Law degree from an Australian university, or qualified lawyer in Australia, and/or strong work experience dealing with Australian legal issues
Strong preference for bilingual skills [English and Mandarin] or [English and Korean]
Outstanding law firm and law school credentials
High level of initiative, integrity, organization and commercial instincts
