The Department of Center for Global Engagement is seeking a Manager, Immigration Services and Compliance Boca Raton, FL.
The Manager, Immigration Services and Compliance will coordinate non-immigrant visa and support services for international faculty and scholars. Will report to the Executive Director of the Center for Global Engagement, and work in close collaboration Provost Office, General Counsel Office, and the external immigration attorney contracted by the University.
Additional duties and responsibilities:
Interpret and apply regulatory policies to the processing of foreign national employees.
Maintain a high level of knowledge on current immigration laws and procedures related to international employment.
Offer workshops to the campus community as it relates to international employment at FAU.
Communicate updated regulations and policies to international employees and departmental administrators as it relates to international employment processing.
Manage day-to-day operations and ensure regulatory compliance for J-1 visiting scholars and interns under the J Exchange Visitor Program.
Serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer; maintain the J-1 scholar records in SEVIS, and assist with annual reports to the U.S. Department of State.
Work as a liaison between the FAU departments, outside legal counsel and the foreign national to assist with the processing of non-immigrant work visas and employment-based permanent resident classes (i.e. H-1B, O-1, TN, Green Card).
Serve as a resource to HR for foreign national I-9 and E-verify and tracking work authorization/validity dates for work authorizations.
In collaboration with HR Recruitment Services, coordinate recruitment & external postings for positions requiring sponsorship.
Serve as a resource to international employees and as a liaison to HR/Payroll on international taxation and tax treaty matters.
Ensure maintenance and proper archiving of applicable documents.
Ensure the confidentiality and security of documents.
At peak times, assist with other Center services and programs as needed.
Master's degree from an accredited institution and two years of experience with employment-based or university-based immigration support services; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with four years of experience with employment-based or university-based immigration support services required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to success in this position.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
Must also have excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills.
