Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law seeks an Associate Director of Employer Outreach to effectively market students, alumni, and law school programs with the goal of increasing employment opportunities and job postings for students and alumni.
Identify employers for outreach in designated strategic geographic areas. Conduct employer visits locally, regionally, and nationally.
Actively solicit summer and post-graduate employment opportunities for students and alumni.
Manage all aspects of employer relationships with respect to recruitment programs, job postings, and job fairs.
Expand judicial clerkship opportunities by interacting with the judiciary and preparing reports.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with groups that would expose the Law School and/or students to local and regional legal communities, including bar associations, legal interest groups, etc. Serve as liaison to the student bar association, student organizations, faculty, and alumni.
Bachelor’s degree required; JD preferred.
2-3 years legal work experience and admission to the bar (or equivalent relevant legal profession/market knowledge and experience, including knowledge of legal processes, court systems, inner workings of firms, etc.).
Knowledge of legal employers and their hiring needs as well as essential legal career planning and placement processes and principles.
Strong networking and marketing skills. Ability to aggressively market the Law School, students, and alumni to attorneys, firms, corporations, government agencies, the judiciary, public interest organizations, and other potential legal employers.
Counseling, mentoring, training, and multicultural competence; listening and empathy skills; commitment to diversity.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effective deliver oral presentations to groups and individuals.
Strong interpersonal skills and collegiality with all relevant constituents (faculty/staff, employers, students, alumni, department colleagues).
Close attention to detail and procedures. Able to effectively prioritize, multi-task, and approach challenges with creativity, insight, and resourcefulness.
Ability to work effectively with technology. Skills in the use of essential office technology applications, including MS Word, calendar programs, email, voicemail, etc. Experience with Excel or comparable databases as well as Symplicity and SCT Banner software is desirable.
