The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is seeking applicants to fill its Assistant Risk Manager vacancy. The Assistant Risk Manager works under the supervision of the Risk Manager who reports directly to the Sheriff and serves in an unclassified position. The Assistant Risk Manager:
Assists the office as liaison for the Franklin County Board of Commissioners and The Prosecutor’s Office in matters pertaining to RFP’s, contracts and agreements.
Drafts, reviews and analyzes contracts and agreements pertaining to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office including RFP’s/RFQ’s.
Monitors vendor compliance with contractual terms.
Reviews and analyzes contracts from an economics and business standpoint.
Coordinates with facility commanders, Chief Deputies and other Office staff to identify performance issues and recommending corrective action for related programs, vendors or contract remedy.
Reviews records and reports.
Conducts direct observation of operations and random audits as appropriate.
Assists the Risk Manager by:
Planning, developing & administering comprehensive & effective liability and risk evaluation & management for the Sheriff’s Office.
Implementing strategies for risk avoidance.
Providing consultative advice to the Sheriff and Administration concerning liability management.
Coordinating and supporting in compliance related programs, including training, disaster recovery, contingency planning and records retention.
Creating policies, practices & procedures & evaluating recommendations of staff & consultants to identify & analyze potential risks of major loss to FCSO.
Recommends appropriate action & may supervise staff.
Assists in revision, preparation and dissemination of new and updated compliance standards and procedures.
Staying abreast of proposed, pending and new legislation and court decisions to limit FCSO liability.
Applicants must possess a current Ohio license to practice law. Applicants should have several years’ experience working in Contract Compliance, Risk Management, or public sector law and demonstrate excellent writing skills. Experience working in the public sector and unionized environment is preferred.
The position is an ORC 124.11(A) (9) unclassified position serving at the discretion of the Sheriff. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
