Carolina Development is seeking applications for the position of Director of Gift Planning.
The Gift Planning team is a team of three professional fundraisers and three support staff. Reporting to the Executive Director of Gift Planning, the Director will: Represent the tradition, mission, programs and needs of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to all constituent groups and serve as a liaison to assigned development officers of schools, units and affiliated foundations. The Director will directly solicit donors and work closely with major gifts officers, alumni and friends of the University and their financial advisors and attorneys regarding the structure of lifetime and testamentary gifts that will benefit the University. Provide active, ongoing personal stewardship of donors. Oversee the programming of Gerrard Society outreach activities. Travel will be required.
Education Requirements: A Bachelor's degree is required.
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
Familiarity with the laws, rules and regulations governing charitable estate planning is required.
Leading candidates will have demonstrated success and a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a gift planning development position or in a substantially related field such as trusts, financial planning or law; as well as superior interpersonal, oral and written communications skills. Candidates will also have the ability to work both independently and as a team player, meet high goals and interact effectively with alumni, friends, faculty and staff in a research university.
