Reporting to CJI's Deputy Director and its Senior Social Worker, the Part-Time Social Worker will work closely with clinical instructors and student attorneys on adult and juvenile cases to address social and legal needs of clients. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparation of needs and/or psychological assessments; development of alternative sentencing and diversionary plans; coordination of appropriate social services for clients; building relationships with communities, social service providers, government agencies, schools, etc., to obtain and provide intervention and rehabilitative services; advocating for client's rights in other systems (DSS, DYS, DMH, etc.); training and supervision of social work graduate students placed at CJI; developing and maintaining social services resource manual; participate in orientation and training of clinical students.

Master's in Social Work required. Must be currently seeking or have a LCSW or LICSW (must be visible on resume or cover letter).
Experience and demonstrated ability working in communities of diverse cultures and with people associated with criminal and/or juvenile justice systems experiencing poverty, homelessness, substance abuse, mental illness, and legal issues. Excellent communication and written skills required, and flexibility in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Interest in training student lawyers and social work interns. Interest in research. Experience collaborating and advocating in legal settings and with community agencies. Bilingual skills preferred; program development experience helpful.
