The Coconino County Attorney's Office is seeking applications for a Criminal Deputy County Attorney II position in Flagstaff. This position will work primarily with the Justice Courts and will have be expected to travel to Page, AZ on a regular basis.
This position will predominantly be focused on felony prosecution in the Justice Courts of Coconino County, with additional trial work in the Coconino County Superior Court. The preferred candidate will be licensed in Arizona in good standing and have served in Arizona Justice Courts and be familiar with Title 13 substantive and sentencing provision, as well as the Rules of Criminal Procedure. Additionally, the preferred candidate will have negotiated and written felony plea agreements, interacted with victims and victim/witness advocates.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Arizona criminal statutory and case law; Superior and Justice Court procedures and their application; rules of evidence; and principles and techniques of legal research. The ideal candidate will also have the skills and abilities to analyze and apply legal principles and practices; prepare, organize and prosecute criminal cases; interview witnesses and complainants; advocate a wide range of criminal; prepare motions, orders, pleadings and other legal documents; present statements of fact, law and argument clearly and logically orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with County staff and representatives from outside agencies.
Attorney II is distinguished from Attorney I by the greater difficulty of cases assigned and the lesser degree of supervision received. Incumbents perform legal work of increasing difficulty. (Minimum of one and one-half years of experience required). Graduation from accredited law school; admission to the Arizona State Bar. Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license and maintain it throughout employment; some travel to outlying Justice Courts will be required. Final job offer is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history background check.

Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with experience. Advancement in classification is within the discretion of the County Attorney upon attorney performance and experience.
