Staples, Inc. seeks to hire four entry-level attorneys to join its in-house legal team. Positions are available in our Framingham, Massachusetts offices.All positions are appropriate for law school graduates (with bar certification). Massachusetts Bar or Registered In House Counsel Certification required.
Counsel—Employment: Associate will provide legal counseling and advice on federal, state and municipal employment laws, assist in managing single plaintiff litigation, and review and advise on non-compete matters. Associate should have one to four years’ experience in a law firm or in-house, with general exposure/experience to employment law.
Counsel—Real Estate: Associate will negotiate and draft commercial real estate documents with emphasis on leasing and provide legal counsel on landlord/tenant issues, property management matters, title issues, acquisitions and dispositions, and mergers and acquisitions. Associate should have one to four years of prior legal practice in the real estate area with substantive commercial leasing experience.
Staff Attorney—Litigation: Associate will manage and resolve litigation matters and pre-litigation disputes; coordinate discovery and other information requests; assist with all stages of litigation; and manage outside counsel. Associate should have one to three years of prior legal practice in the area of litigation.
Staff Attorney—Merchandising: Associate will review, negotiate and draft commercial agreements; analyze laws and regulations applicable to consumer products; interpret contract terms; advise on contract policies; manage projects. Associate should have one to three years of prior legal practice.

Excellent judgment, knowing when to escalate issues to the supervising attorney.
Excellent analytical skills; capable of identifying and prioritizing issues and providing alternative solutions.
Capable of understanding the business of each internal client and willing to self-educate and adapt to changing needs of his/her respective clients’ businesses.
Reliable, self-starter with strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively and positively communicate with clients, legal department colleagues, and outside counsel.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Positive, team-oriented, and collaborative attitude.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Professional integrity/ability to maintain confidentiality.
Law firm or in-house experience.
