This position is responsible for leading all aspects of firm-wide electronic and print legal research services which includes but is not limited to: long-range strategic planning, development of cost-effective and efficient digital and print formats, budget development and control, technology development and implementation, and supporting attorneys' and business development department's information needs.

Your contribution to the team includes
Providing leadership and direction to the Library & Research team members, including establishing priorities, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and reporting status.
Managing the firm's information resources operations. Align department strategy with the firm's overall business strategy, and developing short and long-term goals, policies and procedures.
Managing staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs, complete bi-annual check-in process, and make recommendations regarding annual salary adjustments and bonus considerations.
Fostering and encouraging inter- and intra-departmental communication and collaboration.
Marketing and visibly promoting the Information Resource Center through seminars, workshops and training, both on an individual and group basis.
Balancing workload within and across teams by ensuring employees are taking on responsibilities appropriately, and ensuring the right people are in the right roles.
Empowering employees to provide constructive feedback, take ownership of their areas of responsibility, and share their expertise with the team.
Developing and monitoring department budget and maintaining financial controls.
Continually remaining abreast of innovative, cost-effective developments in legal research capabilities for law firms. Partner with Information Services and Technology team, attorneys and other administrative departments to evaluate and recommend new and/or improved tools.
Join us if you have
5+ years' library management experience. Masters of Library Science or equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited library or information science program preferred.
Proven experience supervising teams and processes; demonstrated ability to motivate and provide meaningful coaching and mentorship to provide top level service within an organization.
Demonstrated experience managing all aspects of a library, e.g. automated and print research and reference services, training and instruction to users.
Demonstrated working knowledge of legal and business informational resources, including automated applications, the Internet, and print media.
Ability to work with attorneys, managers and staff at all levels in a firm; demonstrated ability to function effectively as a team player and exercise independent judgment when dealing with challenging situations.
Hands-on experience developing and maintaining positive working relationships with vendors; demonstrated experience negotiating contracts to achieve the best possible rates and terms.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, with attention to detail and follow-through.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships and communicate verbally and in writing in a professional, courteous manner with clients, firm members, and other business contacts.
Strong presentation skills.
Ability to travel to other offices as needed.
