Currently, we are looking for an experienced full-time Associate or Staff Attorney for our Business Immigration Practice Group in our Chicago office. In addition to Chicago, we have offices throughout Michigan in Ann Arbor, Bloomfield Hills, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and Lansing. With more than 300 attorneys working in 60 different areas of concentration, Honigman provides timely and cost-effective counsel to clients in numerous industries.
This Associate or Staff Attorney will support all aspects of our Business Immigration Practice, including the preparation of complex immigration petitions for sophisticated national and international clients. Honigman's Business Immigration lawyers are highly skilled in assisting companies with managing the complex and evolving immigration process of obtaining temporary and permanent work authorization in the United States.
Prepare complex immigrant and nonimmigrant visa petitions, including EB-1 (outstanding researchers, aliens of extraordinary ability, multinational managers, and executives), Blanket Ls, H-1B, L-1A, L-1B, O-1, E-2, and Trade NAFTA (TN) cases, and responses to Requests for Evidence
Manage and execute the PERM labor certification process on behalf of companies in a wide range of industries
Supervise support staff
Research, summarize, and/or review state and federal rulings, cases, regulations, and statutes regarding complex immigration issues
Interact with various outside entities, including but not limited to clients, governmental agencies and officials, courts, corporations, and other law firms
Excellent credentials; minimum top 1/3 of class for nationally recognized law schools, minimum top 20% of class for regional law schools
Must be licensed Illinois attorney in good standing or have ability to waive into Illinois bar without examination
Minimum 2 years of PERM labor certification experience required
Minimum of 2 years of business immigration experience, including experience in drafting complex EB-1 (outstanding researchers, aliens of extraordinary ability, multinational managers, and executives), Blanket Ls, H-1B, L-1A, L-1B, O-1, E-2, and Trade NAFTA (TN) cases, and responses to Requests for Evidence
Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under significant time constraints
Ability to prepare high-quality, client-ready petitions and documents with limited supervision
Excellent writing and organizational skills required
