The client is based in Midtown Manhattan, New York City and are a growing leader in financial services with over $12 billion AUM. They specialize in offering investment advisory, trust company, and family office services, tailoring strategy towards the complex financial needs of each client.
Key responsibilities of the Chief AML Officer are:
Update and implement AML program as needed to comport with current laws, regulations and changing business risks.
Conduct risk assessments to identify areas of potential vulnerability to money laundering and criminal activity.
Act as liaison to law-enforcement and regulatory officials, and assist in responding to information requests.
Monitor the company's compliance with AML obligations.
Test the company's AML systems and preventive measures.
Properly maintain AML records and files.
Work closely with other departments to understand AML-related needs and conduct accurate risk analyses.
Understand and comply with applicable reporting requirements, including suspicious activity reports.
Oversee the firm's global KYC, AML, and sanctions screening policies and related frameworks
Establish and maintain the firm's corporate-wide AML compliance training program
Manage very large and sometimes complex cross-function projects
Work with senior executives to build a common vision of the impact and urgency of AML regulatory mandates to identify and mitigate risk.
A successful Chief AML officer should have:
BA/BS is required
Minimum 5 years' of work experience with detailed knowledge of AML requirements at a financial services firm. Previous experience at a bank or broker dealer is preferred.
Looking for candidates who are highly motivated, hard workers, with strong judgment.
Comfortable dealing with senior leaders, attorneys, law-enforcement professionals, investigators and regulators. Highly motivated self-starter who will thrive working independently and in a collaborative environment.
Proficiency with LexisNexis, World Compliance, and Microsoft Office. Sound knowledge of USA PATRIOT Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, applicable portions of Bank Secrecy Act, and know-your-customer requirements.
Knowledge of AML-related and economic-sanction alerts. Familiarity with FinCEN, BSA and USA PATRIOT Act reporting requirements, including suspicious activity reports.
Knowledge of rules regarding, and ability to identify suspicious activities and transactions. Integrity and trust: must be a direct, truthful individual who presents facts in an appropriate and helpful manner and finds solutions.
Strong professionalism, ability to multi-task and prioritize, experienced problem solver and proofreader, detail-oriented, accurate and timely follow up and responsiveness. Strong organizational skills with outstanding written and verbal communication skills
