ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE/FULL PROFESSOR in Foodservice, Management and Nutrition. The Food Science and Nutrition Department, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo is seeking a full-time, academic year, tenure track Assistant/Associate/Full professor in Foodservice, Management and Nutrition to start September 16, 2019. The candidate must have extensive experience in foodservice systems and/or management of food and nutrition services with demonstrated success in research in any of the following areas: foodservice systems, foodservice sustainable practices and/or management practice in schools, community, healthcare and/or foodservice. The candidate is expected to promote innovative solutions to the operation and management of food and nutrition service systems.
The candidate must have strong interest in and commitment to teaching and working with students of different cultural backgrounds. Teaching responsibilities will be in undergraduate and graduate courses that include Foodservice Operations (a 2-quarter series that includes systems, equipment, sanitation, safety, quantity food production, recipe standardization, menu design and sustainability) and Nutrition and Foodservice Systems Management (management principles applicable in community, healthcare and foodservice settings) and additional courses as needed by the department. Expectation is to actively participate in the new Masters in Nutrition program.
Duties may also include, but are not limited to, supervision of undergraduate senior projects, graduate student research, student advising, and teaching graduate level courses and/or in a Master of Professional Studies or certificate program. The successful candidate is expected to participate in scholarly activities (i.e., research, grant writing, publications, presentations) as part of his/her professional development. These scholarly activities should be focused on inclusion of undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate is expected to proactively develop collaborations that are intra and inter departmental as well as with other colleges and universities. The successful candidate is also expected to provide service on committees for the department, college, and university and participate in instructionally related activities. Expectations also include service to local, state, national and professional organizations.

Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment is anticipated at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, but appointment at the Full Professor level may be possible for a highly experienced and qualified candidate.
Minimum Qualifications (Staff Only):
Earned doctorate in Food Systems Management, Hospitality, Nutrition or closely related field. Candidates must be committed to quality undergraduate education and are expected to develop and maintain an active research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
Candidates must have practice experience in foodservice operations and/or management and demonstrate excellence in teaching, effective communication, and interpersonal skills. The ability to be a productive team player and to interact well with peers, students, government agencies, and the general public is essential.
RD/RDN credentialed applicants will be given preference. University level teaching experience preferred. Evidence of successful academic research, external funding and publication history is advantageous.
The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
