Posting Summary: The Office of the University Counsel is seeking a highly-motivated individual to serve as a Legal Assistant. This position will perform a full range of legal office assistant duties to assist the University Counsel, Associate University Counsels, and Office Manager.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to, answering the phone, directing inquiries to appropriate attorneys, word-processing, proofreading, copying, scanning, scheduling meetings, preparing legal documents, researching legal issues upon request, preparing litigation notebooks and exhibits, assisting with computer use, arranging for maintenance of office equipment, maintain and organize cases/file management, document retention, review bonds, process reimbursements, assist attorneys with travel, organize and track outside counsel appointments and invoices, handle daily mail, deliver court pleadings, arrange for court reporters, serve as notary public, and perform other duties as assigned.
The position requires the ability to keep up with a busy law office within a complex organization. Candidates must have the ability to get along with diverse personalities and professionalism is expected at all times, in person, on the telephone, and in e-mail. Candidates must have excellent organizational skills, be efficient and meticulous in performing job duties with attention to detail, and be proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Acrobat.

Required Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years
Required Specific Experience: A minimum of two years working in an administrative support role, business office, or at an institution of higher education.
Preferred Minimum Level of Experience: Considerable - 4 to 7 years
Preferred Specific Experience: Experience in office administration and management applying policies and procedures in a legal setting or office.
Preferred License or Certification: Paralegal certification is preferred, but not required.

Knowledge of legal terminology.
