This is a full-time, managerial position, and days of work and hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Note: This position is in the “NL” category of employment (non-fixed work week) and individuals in this role have no claim or entitlement to time off or cash compensation for hours worked beyond their normal schedule. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. It is the policy of the College to grant hour for hour compensatory time off, with advance approval, only when employees are required to work on a regularly scheduled day off, Saturday, Sunday or a holiday. Time earned must be used within one fiscal year from the time it is earned.

This position reports to the Chief Equity and Diversity Officer.
The position plays a significant role in the safeguarding of faculty, students and staff while using exceptional judgment and discretion. The position investigates workplace discrimination and sexual harassment claims and is responsible for monitoring and coordinating compliance with applicable EEO/AA laws, policies, regulations, and guidelines.
Serves as the College's Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) officer and liaison to external state and federal agencies. Responsible for the investigation and resolution of student and employee Title VII and discrimination, harassment and hostile work environment complaints pursuant to the New Jersey State Policy Prohibiting Discrimination in the Workplace. Prepares reports of investigations in a timely manner and makes recommendations on dispositions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Monitors compliance with Title VII, the New Jersey State Law Prohibiting Discrimination and other applicable EEO/AA laws, regulations, policies and programs to support equal access, and equitable treatment, and recommends revisions, updates or guidelines as needed. Also responsible for federal and state reporting requirements and related statistical analysis.
Responsible for the investigation and resolution of student and employee Title VII and State discrimination, harassment and hostile work environment complaints. Prepares reports of investigations in a timely manner and makes recommendations on dispositions in accordance with established policies and procedures. Also responsible for federal and state reporting requirements, and related statistical analysis.
Supervises staff and directs the work operations of Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Compliance Investigators; provides guidance and counsel to staff regarding EEO/AA related matters and personnel actions within the program or unit.
Leads outreach efforts to train and assess other internal employees to serve as Deputy EEO officers and investigators and coordinates/delegates cases and reporting when necessary.
Partners with the Department of Human Resources and other college units to educate College committees, student groups and individuals as to EEO/AA policies by conducting workshops, seminars, or meetings; review, update and change training programs as needed.
Establishes and maintains effective communication and cooperative working relationships with college administrators, faculty and staff; government and private agencies and/or the public in order to accomplish the objectives of the program or unit.
Assists the State of New Jersey, Office of the Attorney General with the investigation and preparation of responses to discrimination complaints filed outside of the College’s internal processes with local, state and federal agencies.
Coordinates and/or assists with quarterly analyses and statistical reports on the status of protected class members in hiring, promotions, terminations, tenure and all other matters relating to employment; coordinate and/or assist with other statistical reports as needed or required.
Meets with search committees for unclassified searches in order to disseminate EEO/AA guidelines and procedures. Oversees and monitors the College’s progress on its Workforce Development Plan.
Prepares agendas, schedules meetings, and keeps the College Leadership informed of EEO/AA Compliance matters, both internally and externally.
Maintains current information pertaining to federal and state EEO/AA policies and ensures the community receives periodic updates. Conducts research on legislative and legal developments relating to EEO/AA discrimination and harassment in the workplace.
Represents the College internally and externally on EEO/AA matters.
A Masters Degree or Juris Doctorate required, in addition to five (5) years of directly applicable experience.
Background knowledge and training in EEO/AA policies and Civil Rights laws and regulations related to EEO/AA is required.
Must demonstrate a proven track record in the area of conducting investigations and in the support of initiatives that foster diversity, equity and/or inclusion.
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills including conflict resolution, superior writing, communication and analytical skills, ability to work with diverse populations and possess an understanding and sensitivity to individuals with diverse issues from diverse backgrounds.
Must demonstrate proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite products.
