OVERVIEW
The Associate Director of Lateral Attorney Recruiting and Integration will support the firm’s strategic initiatives with respect to hiring, onboarding and integrating lateral partners, counsel and lateral associates firm-wide. The Associate Director will also oversee the team that leads the Chicago office’s summer program, OCI efforts and post-clerk hiring processes. This individual will work directly with firm leadership, practice group leadership, all legal recruiting managers, and other professional staff teams to develop and implement a cohesive recruiting strategy designed to attract and retain top legal talent. The Associate Director will also interact extensively with lawyers of all levels at the firm, lateral candidates, legal recruiters and consultants, as well as with law school career service offices to develop and implement effective and innovative processes and best practices for all aspects of the recruiting life cycle.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop short and long term strategies to achieve the firm’s hiring goals.
Lead, coordinate and oversee lateral partner candidate sourcing and recruiting efforts for all offices, working extensively with practice group and department leads, the Chief Talent Officer and search firms.
Coordinate lateral associate candidate sourcing and recruiting efforts for all offices, working extensively with the firm’s legal recruiting managers and the Chief Talent Officer
Manage the lateral partner onboarding and integration processes, ensuring individuals are engaged and provided the necessary tools to thrive and contribute to the firm’s success.
Oversee Chicago office’s law school recruiting efforts, including interacting with career services offices, coordinating on-campus interviewing, and facilitating the firm’s outreach efforts
Conduct research and gather market intelligence to ensure firm’s attorney recruiting process is innovative and effective; track initiatives or developments impacting recruiting, i.e., GDPR and salary inquiry bands, and suggests methods for incorporation or resolution.
Coordinate with the firm’s Associate Director of Diversity and Inclusion on sponsorship, recruiting and training efforts dedicated to maintaining a diverse work place
Supervise, coach and mentor legal recruiting managers, coordinators and assistants and help create a customer service focused work environment of engaged and motivated employees.
Develop and manage recruiting and summer program budgets.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Bachelor’s degree required; J.D. or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of five years legal recruiting management experience required; at least ten years of recruitment experience in a legal recruiting or professional services environment and two years of lateral partner recruiting experience desired.
Experience working collaboratively in a multi-office law firm preferred.
Proven strategic and analytical thinking, drive, initiative and qualitative skills required.
Exhibit credible personal presence and confidence.
Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment.
Proven leadership and managerial skills with the ability to direct work efforts of a team and mentor peers and subordinates.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills
Effective customer service skills, with proven organizational skills, problem solving skills and the ability to set priorities and multi-task while meeting multiple deadlines.
