Maintaining and overseeing the audio/visual equipment for recording interrogations of suspects and/or arrestees. Assisting officers burn and prepare CD's for prosecution; and
Maintaining professional working relationships with District Attorney's Office, Framingham Police, State Police, Framingham Fire Department, Title IX Coordinator, etc.
University Police Detective may be assigned on a rotating basis to one of the three shifts. Shifts may include weekends and nights.
Detective will be appointed by the Colonel of the State Police as Special State Officer pursuant to M.G.L. c. 22C, section 63. Upon receiving appointment as a Special State Police Officer, Detective, while performing their duties will have the same police powers to make arrests as State Police Officers.
Detective will interact frequently with students, faculty, staff and visitors.
Detective will be required to carry a University issued firearm while on duty.
Any and all other duties assigned by the Chief of Police or Deputy Chief of Police.
Knowledge of police procedures and practices, the law of arrest and criminal procedures;
Graduate of the SSPO or Municipal Basic Recruit Full Time Police Academy;
Graduate of the M.P.T.C Basic 312-hour Reserve Police Academy with an Associate's degree or higher in Criminal Justice;
Strong interpersonal skills;
Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to prepare well organized written reports.
Candidates must be eligible for appointment as a Special State Police Officer under Chapter 22C, Section 63 without additional training.
Annual in-service trainings will be required.
Detective may also be required successfully complete specialized training in Sexual Assault Investigation, Title IX investigations, Hate Crime Investigation.
Detective must maintain their warrant of appointment as a Special State Police Officer; appointments not maintained will be subject to dismissal from employment.
Failure to maintain a license to carry a firearm and a valid driver's license will be subject to dismissal from employment.
This is a part-time, non-benefited, contract position, not to exceed 18 hours per week. The pay rate is $24 per hour, hours vary and may be assigned on a rotating basis during one of three shifts. Shifts may include weekends and nights.
Framingham State University conducts criminal history and sexual offender record checks on recommended finalists prior to final employment for all positions.
