Seyfarth Shaw has a unique and exciting opportunity for a talent development (TD) professional, to help manage and support our professional services group attorneys across the firm.
As part of our team, this position will play an integral role in creating an environment of collaboration, teamwork, excellence and high performance for all employees throughout the firm.
ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a trusted advisor to department chairs, practice group leaders and firm leadership on all attorney performance and development matters;
Responsible for supporting ongoing performance management, career development and retention of the Firm’s attorneys; providing information and guidance on the competencies and performance metrics required to grow in the Firm;
Lead onboarding of new attorneys and serve as a guide for attorneys to navigate the firm;
Manage and facilitate the performance management process for the Professional Services Group.
Advise firm and department leadership on performance related issues and monitor progress;
Work cohesively with other internal departments to push Firm initiatives forward, specifically partnering with D&I and Attorney Recruiting professionals to continue to elevate diversity at the firm
Support lawyers, the offices and practice groups and assist with attorney work assignments;
Assist in the identification, mentoring and promotion of exceptional attorneys;
Act as a steward of the firm’s culture and values to promote and build a culture of high performance internally and externally;involvement in external organizations to credential the firm and the team’s growth and knowledge;
Lead or support other national talent development initiatives as requested by Senior Director of TD or other members of firm leadership.
Support Senior Director of TD in national efforts and manage others on the TD Team and beyond as needed with performance discussions and development.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, organizational development, or related fields
Minimum five years of experience in professional development or talent management ideally in a professional services environment; at least two years in a law firm and understanding of legal industry
Strong interpersonal, influencing and relationship building skills; ; project management skills; analytical skills; coaching experience; business acumen; leadership skills and initiative; organization, follow-through and ability to deliver results
Ability to maintain confidentiality of personnel and other sensitive matters is critical
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Power Point and Excel.
Extensive travel required
Residency in our Chicago office is preferred, but other locations in which we have offices could be considered
