The CFO/Administrator position manages the financial functions and administrative operations of the firm and reports directly to the CEO and executive committee. The CFO/Administrator will meet with the Executive Committee and shareholders on a regular basis. In addition, the CFO/Administrator helps identify and plan for the changing needs of the organization, shares responsibility with management for strategic planning, practice management and marketing, and contributes to cost-effective management throughout the firm.
As a member of the management team, the CFO/Administrator is responsible for the following:
Includes planning, forecasting, budgeting, profitability analysis, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, billing, accounts payable, cash flow control, banking relationships, tax planning, tax reporting, trust accounting, payroll, business insurance, 401(k) Plan and other financial management functions.
Human Resource Management:
Includes staff recruiting, attorney recruiting support, orientation and training, salary administration, employee relations, benefits administration, personnel data information, coordinate social events and other human resource management functions for the attorneys and staff.
Includes working closely with the IT company to support daily technical operations, design and analyze computer systems, evaluate software applications and implementation, records management, office automation, information storage and retrieval, telecommunications, office equipment purchasing/leasing and other related legal practice systems.
Includes planning and participation of client development events, creation of advertising materials and merchandise, website design and maintenance, social media, and other planned projects to enhance the firm’s visibility and image.
Education, Skills & Abilities:
Graduation from college or university with major course work in finance, business administration, management, human resources, technology and marketing. CPA license not necessary but certainly beneficial. Five years of experience in law firm administration or a professional organization is a requirement for this position.
Ability to manage office functions economically and efficiently, organize work, establish priorities and maintain good interpersonal relations and communications with lawyers, support staff, clients and the community.
