This attorney will assist in global legal issues for CBRE's Real Estate Investments business segment, which consists of three principal business units:
(i) investment management (CBRE Global Investors);
(ii) flexible space solutions (CBRE Hana); and
(iii) development services (Trammel Crow Company).
This attorney will is intended to be based in Los Angeles and report to the REI General Counsel, who is at the firm's headquarters in Los Angeles. By necessity, a strong and close working relationship will exist between the candidate and the senior management of the three principal business units.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Overseeing legal matters for the three principal Real Estate Investment business units, including advising on and negotiating corporate transactional matters, supervising outside counsel, labor & employment, regulatory, litigation, corporate governance, compliance and risk management matters;
Supporting the global investment management activities of CBRE Global Investors, including the structuring of investment programs such as commingled funds and separate accounts (including negotiations with investors and clients), monitoring transactional execution at the investment level, coordinating between business units and overseas operations;
Supporting the investment activities of CBRE Hana's flexible space solutions business, including overseeing the negotiating of leases and partnership arrangements for CBRE Hana's co-working facilities;
Supporting the development services activities of Trammel Crow Company (TCC), including assisting the General Counsel of TCC in negotiating real estate transactions and joint ventures;
Working directly with the senior management and leaders of the dedicated teams to provide advice on the implementation of strategic and tactical business plans and objectives; and
Responsibility for developing and implementing best practices and process improvements, and coordinating between the three principal Real Estate Investments business units.
This attorney should have around 7-10 years of extensive broad, general real corporate and commercial transactions experience, preferably including mergers & acquisitions, investment management and private equity experience;
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and structuring applicable to the real estate investment management business and promotion of investment products is also preferred;
Real estate transactional experience is also preferred;
Top academic credentials and major law firm training are required;
