The Community Immigration Law Center (CILC) in Madison, Wisconsin, is expanding its legal deportation defense services and seeks a full-time Supervising Attorney with a passion for immigration law to help represent community members on a pro bono basis.
Job duties include:
Conduct intake evaluations with prospective clients and gather information necessary to evaluate whether to undertake representation.
Maintain organized client files and hold regular office hours unless out of the office on work-related travel. Manage the twice-a-month CILC clinic sessions at the Christ Presbyterian Church.
Provide immigration representation consistent with CILC's goals to serve our immigrant community with a concentration in detained removal cases. Write motions to reopen, appeals with the EOIR, BIA, AAO and 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Travel to meet with current and future clients as well as attend all scheduled court appearances in detention centers and EOIR in Chicago.
For Supervising Attorney position: supervise other CILC staff, mentor junior members, review legal work, develop and propose policies and procedures.
Coordinate activities with other Dane County Immigrant Collaborative members; Meet with the CILC Executive Board to advance funding objectives and attend board meetings.

Applicants should be a member of the Wisconsin bar or have the ability to become one, and should have at least 3-5 years of experience with removal defense (will also consider those with less experience for Staff Attorney position). The ideal candidate will be fluent in both English and Spanish.
