The Litigation Manager is responsible for paralegal and litigation support services, corporate support, and contract administration and review. S/he provides high level administrative support to the Vice President and General Counsel and other attorneys as assigned. Reporting directly to University Counsel and working closely with all attorneys in the department, the Litigation Manager has additional duties that include but are not limited to:
Provide paralegal and litigation support services, including coordinating response to subpoenas, assisting in discovery, handling court filings, and researching case statuses.
Provide contract administration and review services, including contract intake, basic contract review, and inter-office coordination.
Provide corporate support, including coordinating the audit letter process, obtaining necessary corporate documents, and completing various forms and processes, including regulatory filings with the District of Columbia.
Provide direct high-level administrative support to the Vice President and General Counsel and other assigned attorneys.
Handle inquiries and requests from internal and external constituents, participating in special projects, such as legal research, and performing other duties as assigned.
Draft correspondence and responses as assigned, providing supporting materials for meetings and miscellaneous word processing and editing.
Assist in all office operations, including maintaining files and transferring them to new electronic system, fielding phone calls and directing them to the appropriate lawyer, photocopying, and liaising with other university offices such as facilities, university information services and telecommunications to ensure appropriate services and support is provided to the Office of General Counsel.
Preference for recent and strong paralegal or senior administrative assistant experience, ideally with legal or executive-level support experience
Advanced proficiency with MS Word and experience with Excel and PowerPoint with excellent typing and proofreading skills
Ability to work effectively across departments and offices, engaging resources in an appropriate manner
Proactive professional with the ability to work independently and efficiently
Excellent judgment in working with various constituencies as well as excellent organizational and communication (verbral and written) skills
Ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy at all times with strong attention to detail
Proficiency using online calendar and email systems
Experience with contract review, legal research and litigation support is preferred
Experience in use of contract management software and use of legal research databases is preferred
