Ameren Corporation ("Ameren" or "Company") has engaged Major, Lindsey & Africa to conduct a search for a Deputy General Counsel ("DGC") to be located at its headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. Overview: Ameren is going through an exciting time where the overall industry is transforming as electric and gas utilities are modernizing and taking advantage of electrification and digitization to better serve customers. As Ameren works to create strong customer loyalty, to implement and integrate new/innovative technologies, and to transform the way work is performed, the DGC will be responsible to ensure that the legal department is poised to deliver exceptional legal service by partnering with the business to achieve Ameren's strategic goals.
Reporting to the General Counsel of Ameren, the Deputy General Counsel will function as a strategic advisor to the General Counsel and be responsible for managing the development and operation of the Ameren legal department, and for leading and managing teams of legal professionals across a variety of substantive area(s) of legal expertise.
Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits.
Relocation: This is a national search.
Experience: The successful candidate will have at least fifteen (15) years of direct, relevant legal experience, including substantial in-house tenure, preferably with a publicly-traded, regulated utility. S/he will have strong executive presence, organizational savvy, strong strategic thinking capabilities. Experience managing a team of in-house attorneys is strongly preferred. A combination of law firm and in-house experience is a clear advantage. Experience in the energy or utility space is a strong plus.
Bar Admission: Admission to a State Bar of any jurisdiction in the United States and licensed to practice in Missouri (or admitted to the Missouri Bar within a reasonable time following the commencement of the position).
