The Director, Technology & IP Strategy, is a senior technical role that broadly supports the strategy, development and utilization of IP. Development efforts are based on identifying key technology areas to support pSemi’s long range business objectives, developing and executing on plans to build IP in identified areas. Strategy and utilization activities include competitive assessments, risk management studies, and participating in discussions with third parties as the senior negotiator on technical matters. This role also includes completing special investigations such as IP due diligence for licensing, litigation, and M&A as needed. This position will report to the VP of IP and Licensing.
Roles & Responsibilities
This position has responsibility for:
Strategy and utilization of IP:
Assessment f key technology areas to support pSemi’s long range business objectives and competitive position, including technology, market and patent prtfolio reviews.
Risk management activities including clearance studies, industry trend analysis
IP due diligence in M&A
Develping and implementing strategies for new horizon/exploratory research focused on next generation IP in radio systems and power electronics.
Technlogy leader driving technical negotiations with third parties on IP matters
Peridically assess key technology areas to support pSemi’s long range business objectives, develop and execute on plans to build portfolios in these areas.
Participate in patent council and patent committee meetings
Technical assistance t attorneys on patent and licensing matters
Background in patent law/patent development; IP valuation, contract law/transactions/licensing
International/multi-cultural business experience
BSEE; MSEE strongly preferred

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)
10+ years of IC design, development, fabrication, test, and packaging
3+ years of product management/marketing or technical sales experience
3+ years of familiarity with patents
Broad and deep technical and commercial experience, and current on the state-of-the-art, in at least one of the following: (1) RF devices/systems, or (2) power electronics.
Knowledge of IC fabrication, test, and packaging processes
Relevant technical knowledge of the semiconductor industry, with an understanding of technical roadmaps and direction
Good working knowledge of patents and know-how. Ability to quickly assess inventions, understand current and future practical market applications, and create technical roadmaps and intellectual property strategies
Ability to considers long-term consequences and implications associated with actions or events
Outstanding facilitation and communication skills, including those required to ability to communicate and negotiate internally and externally on advanced technology matters
Ability to create or refine strategy and process in patent prosecution matters
Ability to work jointly with other departments on intellectual property projects
Engineering skills with electrical engineering background
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
